A Backyard Wedding

A dear friend of mine got married a few months ago and enlisted my help to take some of the "detail" photos of the day. With her permission, I'm sharing a few with you:

It was an afternoon wedding on a late summer day- really, quite perfect. The couple held the ceremony & reception in their own backyard- a smallish gathering but still, so beautiful!

This was the very definition of a "handmade wedding". Nearly everything was designed or styled by either the couple themselves or their friends.

Aren't these the most darling menus? A custom drawing at the top features the couples' silhouettes and sketches of their chickens. (They have a chicken coop in their backyard).

The bride collected vintage Vera napkins for every place setting. She tied simple manila tags around everyone's wine glass in lieu of place cards.

The groom installed this amazing sailboat sail over a portion of the backyard to provide a little shade. Very impressive.

The couples' initials: A + J

The caterers made a multi-course meal in the couple's own kitchen using fresh veggies & herbs from the couple's garden. (Everything tasted amazing).

This was the best wedding I've ever been to- it reminded me of what a wedding should be- a gathering of loved ones to celebrate a new chapter in a couple's lives. It need not be fancy or frilly, no need for expensive venues or overdone floral arrangements. Personal touches and hands-on details made their day truly special. Congrats A + J!
