the fashion diaper bag

i just made my first diaper bag! i had a custom order to create a diaper bag out of this floral fabric and green wool felt- it looks just like a regular oversized bag, really. it has three interior pockets and two 20" straps. i also whipped up a zipper pouch to match ::

i will be sewing like a crazy woman for the next month to get ready for portland's famous crafty wonderland show on may 1st and 2nd! so i'll be previewing some of my crafts and softgoods on my blog as fast as i can turn them out- stay tuned!

mizaru

what a beautiful image, yes? in the etsy shop description it says:

“Deep in my heart I'm concealing things that I'm longing to say.
Scared to confess what I'm feeling - frightened you'll slip away.”

lovely. art by mizaru.

have a wonderful weekend!

vintage ephemera

i adore the vintage style of these postcards by john derian company. and i equally love the word ephemera. i actually had to look up the exact definition because it was, to me, somewhat mysterious. according to wiktionary.org, ephemera can be defined as: "transitory things". mmm... that kind of makes me swoon a little. mysterious indeed.

another, more precise definition of ephemera is "publications that are designed to be short-lived." postcards fall under this category because they are meant to be read once and likely never used again.

visit the john derian company website for lots more vintage-y goodness.

le sac orange

i made this bag last december for a charity auction at a craft show and it was so popular that i had three requests to make more that same night. i finally finished filling the orders- what do you think? the orange fabric is a very nice "melange tweed" from maharam, which is actually an upholstery fabric but it really works for the purse, no?

the fabric i used for the sides was a robert kaufman print, i think. it just happened to match the orange perfectly.

the fabric flower is sewn on and embellished with a brushed gold button. this is a very happy purse! it's funny that i dreamed this up and put it together in about 48 hours and it turned out to be one of my more successful pieces. does that mean i do my best work under a deadline? perhaps. :)

me :: (bleary-eyed, still wearing my pink pajama top under a coat) uh... huh? oh, oops.
coffee girl :: you better go put on something green!
me :: oh, okay. i just need my coffee first.

happy st. patrick's day!

new invitation design- "vintage western"

introducing the "vintage western" wedding invitation suite!

i chose to use the candy-colors again to draw attention to the "carnival" feel of the design. but, as always, the colors can easily be modified to suit any bride's taste.

the suite includes a pocketfold invitation, an rsvp insert, information insert, mailing envelope, and custom name tab closure.

happy day to me

yay for my birthday! it's not raining in portland, so that means it's a wonderful day! i just got back from feeding a stray kitty {the same one whose kittens i helped rescue last fall} and boy, was she hungry. so i'm feelin' pretty good. it's the little things that matter, right?
